Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, and presented by our friends at Homefield Apparel, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.
The basketball season is here as the Hoosiers kicked things off last Sunday with a charity exhibition game at Tennessee. Also, Indiana Dominated Marian in another scrimmage later in the week.
Besides this, readers will find info about the women competing in their exhibition match, some schedule info down the road, and weekly shows. We will as usual conclude with a look at other IU sports led by football moving to 9-0.

Banner #1: IU Wins Charity Exhibition Game Vs. Tennessee
The Hoosiers’ 2024-2025 season finally arrived to much hype last Sunday with a bigger challenge than normal. While it didn’t count for anything, IU faced Tennessee in a road charity exhibition contest and looked ready for the moment. In a back-and-forth affair, Indiana came out on top 66-62 as transfer Myles Rice led the team to victory in the final minute.
Afterward, IU coach Mike Woodson spoke, Ryan Corazza had a Minute After and Film Session, and Alex Bozich provided Five Takeaways.
Banner #2: Indiana Dominates Marian
While the challenge level lessened significantly on Friday, the Hoosiers made their final exhibition game in Assembly Hall look easy. Taking on coach Pat Knight’s Marian squad, Indiana raced to a 106-64 victory over the NAIA school based out of Indianapolis.
Afterward, Woodson spoke, Inside the Hall had a photo gallery, Corazza penned a Minute After, Bozich provided Five Takeaways, and Matt Press wrote a column about Oumar Ballo and Malik Reneau.

The women’s squad also opened their exhibition season in dominant fashion. With all-time great player Mackenzie Holmes out of eligibility, the Hoosiers will need to replace her elite production despite returning many other contributors.
Her backup Lily Meister will get the first crack at filling these very big shoes. While the competition level was not high, Meister showed she could well be up to the task, contributing 19 points in a 95-27 win over Maryville. Cheryl Miller Watchlist Honoree Yarden Garzon one-upped her with a team-high 20 points as the squad hit 10 three-pointers.
Banner #4: Hoosiers To Participate In Las Vegas Tournament Down The Road
Turning to the future, IU will take part in a marquee preseason tournament. This event will take place in the Las Vegas Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium.
It is part of the Hall Of Fame Series and the Hoosiers’ opponent will be a familiar one in Kansas. The game will be on Nov. 12, 2027.
