[6BS] Women Announce Non-Conference Schedule
Inside the Hall Continued Its Season Preview
Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, and presented by our friends at Homefield Apparel, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.
From a news perspective, it was a relatively quiet week for IU Basketball. However, the women’s team announced their non-conference schedule on Thursday.
Also, Inside the Hall did more roster previews for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Additionally, a recruiting update, Hoosiers in the pros, and weekly shows round out the first five banners. As usual, 6-Banner will conclude with a look at other Indiana sports led by women’s soccer opening their season with a victory.

Banner #1: Women Announce Non-Conference Schedule
While the men’s non-conference schedule came out several weeks ago, the women announced theirs this week. Like their male counterparts, the slate is highlighted by a trip to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis. However, for them, it runs from the 23-25 of November rather than the 27-29. The field for the women includes Ball State, Baylor, Columbia, North Carolina, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, and Villanova.
The other noteworthy matchups are a November 13 road contest at Butler and a rematch with Stanford in Bloomington four days later. The squad returns starters Yarden Garzon, Chloe Moore-McNeil, and Sydney Parrish.
However, they must replace arguably the best player in program history with the departure of Mackenzie Holmes who is now a graduate manager for the team. Sharpshooter Sara Scalia also had her eligibility expire but has a replacement with a similar skillset in Penn State transfer Shay Ciezki. The ability for former Tennessee Vols center Karoline Striplin and previous backup big Lily Meister to replace Holmes in the post will determine the squads ceiling.
Banner #2: Season Preview
Inside the Hall (ITH) continued its preview of the upcoming season with a look at the players in detail. This included incoming freshman Bryson Tucker, rising sophomore Gabe Cupps, rising senior Trey Galloway, Arizona senior transfer Oumar Ballo, and Illinois senior transfer and Indiana native Luke Goode.
Banner #3: Recruiting Update
As is typical during the summer, a few recruiting nuggets came to light this week for the 2025 class. The most noteworthy of these was the announcement that top-40 center Eric Reibe will take a visit to Bloomington from Oct 4-6. However, one top target who will not become a Hoosier is Malachi Moreno who committed to his home state Kentucky Wildcats on Friday.
However, just like for the coming 2024-2025 season, the portal will be instrumental in filling out the roster for 2025-2026. Also, ITH did an update to their mid-August recruiting board.

Banner #4: Cupps And Parrish Make NIL Appearance
NIL opportunities have continued to increase for athletes in the last couple of seasons. The latest example of this was Saturday in Fort Wayne.
During this time Gabe Cupps and Parrish made an appearance with a business they are partnered with for NIL. This place is called Scheerer McCulloch Auctioneers and both stopped by there yesterday to do a meet and greet with fans.
For Parrish, it wrapped up a busy week. This was because she also served as the sideline reporter on BTN+ for the women’s soccer match on Thursday (results below).
Banner #5: Weekly Shows
Podcast on the Brink returned this week with a new episode. On it, Brian Fonseca discussed the outlook for a much-hyped Rutgers squad for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
Also, The Back Home Network was on-air twice this week. Both shows were about women’s basketball with Austin Render’s Dribble Drive Podcast as well as Doing The Work.
