Annual Huber's Winery Event Was On Wednesday
Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, and presented by our friends at Homefield Apparel, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.
The 6-Banner topics were very active this week. The Indiana Alumni TBT squad, a major scheduling announcement, and the annual Huber’s Event are the headlines.
Besides this, Inside the Hall continued its preview of where every Big Ten team stands, and weekly shows rounded out the basketball portion of the column. We will as usual conclude with a look at other IU sports led by the baseball team’s performance in the NCAA tournament.

Banner #1: Yogi Ferrell Added To TBT Team
A major addition was announced to the Assembly Ball TBT Squad this week. This team consists entirely of IU Alumni. They will compete at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis beginning at 8 pm on Friday, July 19. Tickets are available here with the winners of the event receiving $1 million.
It was already known that Devonte Green, Miller Kopp, Juwan Morgan, and Troy Williams would be a part of it. Now the most successful former Hoosier of recent times is joining in Yogi Ferrell.
Ferrell was in Bloomington from 2013-2016 and was instrumental in some of the best seasons of recent times. He was the starting point guard his entire career and was part of two Big Ten championships, a couple of Sweet 16 appearances, and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Finally, he was the leading scorer for Indiana the last three years he suited up on campus.
Banner #2: South Carolina Added to 2024-2025 Schedule
A major scheduling addition came to light this week. It was already known that IU would head to the prestigious Battle of Atlantis in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving for a trio of contests.
Besides this, a bigger-name opponent is coming to Assembly Hall on Saturday, November 16 for a one-off game. This opposition will be South Carolina. While the Gamecocks do not have the prestige of their national championship-winning female counterparts, they are nonetheless a solid side coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance and a high finish in the SEC.
The seemingly tough non-conference schedule coincides with high expectations for the Hoosiers in 2024-2025. Most publications have them projected in the top 25 for next season including Andy Katz of ncaa.com who ranks them the highest at 12.
Banner #3: Huber’s Winery Event Recap
The yearly event in Southern Indiana at Huber’s Winery took place this week. In recent times it has become a fundraiser for Hoosiers Connect and NIL. It also includes IU’s top coaches speaking as well as several players.
The headliner was Hoosier head man Mike Woodson who addressed the crowd there on Wednesday night. His speech included topics such as his team’s success recruiting from the transfer portal and what style of play he might employ on the court.
Banner #4: Inside the Hall’s Big Ten Team Preview And Recruiting Board
Inside the Hall continued its series previewing all the Big Ten teams for next season. The conference has expanded with the West Coast schools and now has 18 squads in the league.
This week ITH looked at Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio State, newcomer Washington, and Wisconsin. The site also released a recruiting board looking at IU’s 2025 recruiting targets.

Podcast on the Brink and The Back Home Network had several new shows in the last few days. POTB did a crossover with Brian Tonsoni of Assembly Call and Delphi Bracketology to discuss next season’s roster construction.
Meanwhile, AC Radio had a new episode on Thursday night. Finally, TBH had a couple of new episodes of Crimson Cast while Right Up Meridian recapped the Indiana Pacers’ most successful year in a decade.

Banner #6: Hoosier Roundup-Baseball’s NCAA Tourney Results
Baseball was somewhat unexpectedly selected for the NCAA Tournament despite an RPI of 56. They proved they were worthy of the invitation though by dominating Southern Mississippi at the Knoxville Regional on Friday. They then lost against top-seed Tennessee and will play again today at noon against the Golden Eagles in the double-elimination format.
No.12 rowing is in the process of competing in the NCAA Tournament and still has one day left.
Football announced kickoff times for their first three contests of 2024.
Men’s tennis added another transfer.
Water polo had three players honored as All-Americans.
Men’s golf had two athletes named All-Region.
Softball had four honored as Academic All-District.
Wrestling had 12 of their athletes receive invitations to compete at the U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals.
