Hello friends!
I am interrupting our frantic refreshing of transfer portal news to provide a life update that is likely to have some impact on my Assembly Call work moving forward.
After spending the last half-decade as a partner at Movement Ventures, where we coached and supported online community builders and entrepreneurs, I’ve decided to take a new step in my career.
So three weeks ago, I began a new role at Circle — the best platform out there for people who are looking to build serious and sustainable online communities.
My official title is Customer Success Manager for their rapidly growing Circle Plus plan, which includes every bell and whistle for the community as well as a branded mobile app.
In other words, I’ll be doing what I love to do: working closely with other online community builders to match the business goals they have for their community with the right strategic approach in terms of how they’re using our platform.
I’ve already hit the ground running and am really enjoying the people and the work. It just feels like the right fit. And while it’s still early, I think all of us can attest to the importance of finding the right professional fit. ;-)
If you’re curious about Circle and about how we support online community builders, we have a Creator Path Summit coming up next week that you might be interested in.
It’s free to join; all you have to do is register via email.
You’ll get access to nine premium sessions featuring the likes of Jay Clouse, Justin Welsh, and Anne-Marie Le Cunff covering topics like building an audience, growing a loyal and active community, speaking with confidence on camera, and much more.

As for how this will impact my work with The Assembly Call and Back Home Network moving forward …
The main impact will be my availability during the day.
You are unlikely to see me as active on social media and in community discussions during the day, but that won’t prevent us from recording new episodes in the evenings and postgame shows once next season begins. (We’re in the process of planning a transfer portal update episode here sometime soon.)
But emergency podcasts in the middle of the day when big news strikes are probably a thing of the past. And overall, you will probably see less real-time reacting to events with a much heavier and more urgent set of daily work tasks now on my plate.
I suppose we’ve been on this path for a little while now, but my new role at Circle really locks it in — for me anyway. So I just wanted to let you know, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have in the comments below.
In the meantime, I remain optimistic about Coach DeVries and the future of Indiana men’s basketball, and I look forward to continuing those conversations here this offseason … albeit at a bit more unpredictable pace and schedule.
Ultimately, I just want to say thank you for sticking with us through the many iterations this show and community have taken over the years.
Your support means the world to all of us here, and certainly to me personally, because a big part of why I got the role at Circle was based on how much I’ve learned about building an online community here with The Assembly Call. So thank you for being a part of that continued journey.
I know we have many, many more successful basketball seasons to discuss in the future … I just wish they’d hurry up and start getting here! ;-)
Have a great week, and go Hoosiers!
Thanks for sharing! Good luck with your new venture, and glad you can continue with Assembly Call.
Congratulations on your new position, Jerod! It sounds perfect for you! Enjoy every minute -- it flies by! I just retired last week after 43 years of work since graduating from IU!
