In the brief clips I saw you posted. 1 creativity in play calling. 2 players didn’t go crazy with celebration after a big catch, run or touch down. That’s discipline and focus.

Let’s get him and put the past behind us. Just maybe a couple Guys in the portal will stay. Remember the conversations about IU basketball before Woodson came. Several guys were going to transfer. Let’s have faith in the process and Scott Dolson.Remember it was Fred Glass who hired Allen. Go Hoosier Football. 🏈

I'm warming to the idea of Cignetti. A definite offensive philosophy (and a young coordinator that could be an heir apparent if things go well) is something that has been sorely lacking these last 3 seasons.

This is the type of hire that signifies an approach that the administration is taking football seriously. Even if you're only a basketball fan, a successful football program keeps the athletic program hanging around in a future Big Ten. We'll only be able to mooch off of this TV revenue with a pathetic oval ball for so long.

This is the first time we are hiring a coach with any foundation that represents a Big Ten quality hire. The guy has vision and he's an excellent fit.

His attitude seems good, I’m sure Pat would host him on his show occasionally which is not bad for recruiting exposure, and he looks pretty young for 62 in my opinion! We need someone with juice but a system/vision that they will execute each year. Feels like Cignetti has that and enjoys being an underdog. He seems like the right guy to galvanize donors and the fan base

He would be as close to a home run hire as we can get.

The football program has fallen so low, I'm at a loss as to what will save it. And, to be fair, I'm a moderate football fan. It's something to do while waiting for basketball to start in my world.

The trajectory of JMU has been phenomenal. I'll play devil's advocate regarding his age. At 62 this would likely be his last head coaching job. A young up and comer who has a couple good years is probably out the door for a bigger job and we're doing this all over again. I hate it but the reality

is until IU football gets serious about competing in the NIL space I'm not sure it matters who the coach is.

I had a good conversation with someone who is very influential in IU's NIL efforts. Let's just say: we're ready to get serious. Honestly, I think there has been a readiness to get serious for a while, but there was a lack of faith in Tom Allen's ability to deliver on bigger NIL investments. I think we'll start to see more and more becoming available, especially if Cignetti can build some positive early momentum on the field (not even with winning, but being more consistently competitive).

Another subject Jerod...I'll be at Monteverde Academy tonight and tomorrow night to watch some great HS basketball. The teams there are loaded with high D1 prospects. Will be fun to watch future Hoosier McNeeley (and hopefully Queen).

I like the hire (if it happens) as always nice to get a coach who will be missed by the program/university he is leaving. I have family on faculty at JMU (IU alum BTW). She states the faculty, students and administration each fervently like and support Cignetti and hate to see him leave. He has a huge fan-base following. I prefer him to hiring a coach who has been dismissed. I'd be fine with Coach Candle as well. Not a fan of Coach Chryst.

Jerod- I am a spectator of football, but have no (zero) understanding of the details of why things work or don’t work, etc. I can only tell from what I see, so I really don’t have an opinion of this coach, except that when he speaks I can follow what he is saying. TA was difficult to follow since he was nearly always emotional or hoarse and spoke in fragments. I certainly don’t have qualifications to pick a coach! So going to trust Scott on this one as well.

The only way Indiana was getting a coach with Power 5 head coaching experience would be because that coach got fired. No one would willingly leave another Power 5 head coaching job to come to Indiana because in the Power 5 world IU is probably considered to be the worst job. We are a basketball school first and football is a very distant second.

I like the hire because he seems to have the energy, passion, and unwavering confidence to get the job done. Hopefully he can excel in the transfer portal because this roster needs a major overhaul. I'm not sure how many people on here watched the last few games from beginning to end, but if you did you probably counted about 40 missed tackles per game. The effort displayed to bring down a ball carrier was less than impressive. We made Purdue's QB look like he was Cam Newton out there.

On offense our only truly explosive player is Jaylon Lucas, but he is very undersized. Hopefully our next coach if he can keep him will figure out ways to get him the ball in space instead of trying to run him up the middle on HB dives like Walt Bell did.

I agree Kyle. The only real candidates were Herman and Chryst, both of whom were fired from previous jobs with much more stringent expectations than IU. And each guy, despite impressive winning percentages, had his own warts as a candidate.

I like it a lot.. Hopefully he'll bring a talented staff and get the ball rolling with a really good recruiting class.. Go Hoosiers!!!
