I wonder if Coach Moren's continued involvement coaching national names might yield some benefits in the near future. Players who enter the portal and had positive experiences with her in the summer might consider IU. Maybe that's wishful thinking but it seems plausible to me.
It’s obvious IU doesn’t have the talent of both USC’s, UCLA, UConn, and a few other top-tier programs. Moren makes the most of what she gets, and it shows. They were SC’s toughest match during last year’s tourney, and were once again a tough match for them this year. The culture is built, it’s a great campus and university. There’s no reason to think IU can’t make the leap to become an elite team, it’s all a matter of getting the recruits.
It’s not that easy to just plug elite recruits into Moren’s system as story discusses. Recruiting is just fine as is and can win at an elite level as was done for previous four seasons. This was a rebuilding year without a great center and Moren took lemons and made lemonade in spite of that.
I’m just not sure why no one seems to have confidence that Faith can develop into the center we need. Unless I am wrong , she came to IU from Martinsville as a much higher national ranking than Mac did and she’s 6’4”. She did a real good job in the game that they had to use her a lot .
Teri hopefully can coach her up to the point that if we do get a starting center that there will be confidence to play her multiple minutes a game
The challenge Coach faces is to find both a skilled, athletic (i. e., taller than 6-3 and muscular with an ability to jump) big as well as a skilled, athletic point guard who have more than one year of eligibility, fit the values and standards that have made her teams successful and have endeared them to IU fans, and are won't jump ship if their first year doesn't bring a top two in the conference or a trip to the Elite Eight. She, of course, is well aware of exactly what she is looking for, and if anyone can find those two players in the portal, she and her staff can.

It’s possible with portal. Just don’t expect her to get elite recruits and go against her system. She is doing just fine as is.
Thanks for reading!
I meant to say national *teams* with USA Basketball.
Keep up the good work Coach Moren.
