[6BS] Hoosiers Win Final Exhibition Game In Puerto Rico
IU Overcomes Huge Deficit Once Again To Finish Trip A Perfect 3-0
Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, and presented by our friends at Homefield Apparel, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.
The exhibition games continued in Puerto Rico to provide a first glance at what new Hoosier coach Darian DeVries’ squad might look like. In the end, it was another comeback victory for IU to finish a perfect 3-0 trip.
Besides this, recruiting and the football season is approaching. As usual, we will conclude with weekly shows and a look at other Indiana sports, which was highlighted by women’s soccer opening the athletic year with a win.

Banner #1: IU Defeats Mega Superbet With Huge Comeback Again
The Hoosiers trailed big in the second quarter against Serbian professional squad Mega Superbet in Puerto Rico for a second time. Trailing by large margins and losing big was a primary issue during the tenure of former Indiana coach Mike Woodson.
While these contests were exhibition matches that had little bearing on the future, IU made another huge comeback. However, this time the Hoosiers failed to take complete control in the second half and instead won an 81-80 thriller.
The game was not broadcast live on TV or radio. However, Inside the Hall was on-site and provided highlights, as well as interviews and analysis.
Banner #2: Puerto Rico Trip Recap
While the trip had bumps in the road with the huge deficits, in the end, the Hoosiers finished a perfect 3-0 and bonded as a squad while gaining confidence. Also, Lamar Wilkerson showed potential to be the player he was recruited to be.
Wilkerson was not the only one to flash though, as several other IU players had strong performances, giving the program a fresh start. Also, Inside the Hall’s own Josh Pos made the trip to Puerto Rico to provide detailed coverage and did a Podcast on the Brink recapping it.
Banner #3: Recruiting Update
Recruiting is off to a rousing start under DeVries as he goes all in for the 2026 class a year from now. With Prince-Alexander Moody already in the fold, the Hoosiers are going all out to bolster it with several campus visits upcoming this fall for highly ranked prospects.
Highlight videos for some of these potential targets are available. This includes Davion Adkins, Junior County, and Jordan Smith.
Banner #4: Football Season Preview
While 6-Banner is a basketball-focused column, the success of IU football in 2024 has led to unprecedented excitement amongst the fan base and increased media coverage for the program. As a result, Inside the Hall provided video from coach Curt Cignetti’s media availability following practice. Also, the winning does not appear to be a temporary thing, as the team will start this year in the AP-Top 20, and several players are receiving preseason recognition.
